Nolan's Surgery

Nolan had his tubes put in his ears today. we had to be at the hospital at 5:15 AM to check in. By around 6:30 we were taken back to pre-op where they had me put him in a robe and they put wristbands on us. We sat and watched cartoons and he (once again) got to see all the prisoners who were in the room waiting for surgery (our tax dollars at work). At around 7:00 we went back into another room where they gave him a liquid that the nurse said would make him drowsy and loopy. It was pretty funny the effect it had on him! His little head was flopping all around and he was laughing. He must have been seeing 2 of everything. By the time they took him back he was pretty out of it. The actual surgery only takes 5 minutes, so he did not need an IV. They came and got me after about an hour when he was waking up. He was crying and really confused. He was trying to pull off all the monitors they had stuck to him. After he calmed down, we got to ride in a wheelchair back to the pre-op room so they could make sure he was okay. They gave him a popsicle and the crying ended immediately. The way to my kids hearts is through their stomach, every time! He was such a trooper, and by about noon he was back to his normal self, stealing toys from the babies and begging for snack and telling me he doesn't need a nap.
In his hospital bed, ready to go
